Aberdeen and North East Scotland Family History Society
This area was often a first settling point for Shetlanders when they left the islands. The Society covers the area of Kincardineshire (Montrose in the south), Aberdeenshire, Banffshire and Morayshire.

The Lothians Family History Society
Again an area where many Shetlanders first settled.

Northumberland and Durham Family History Society
Another area where many Shetlanders settled.
