Sharing Shetland Surnames - 2017 April 25th, 2017
Following on from the highly successful projects last year the Society has another project simmering away now for launch.
The events to celebrate the name Goudie will be launched on Saturday 20th May in the Ben End, Cunningsburgh Hall from 7pm. Featuring displays, presentations and music with 8 o'clocks (tea and cakes) served. On Sunday 21st May from 2.30pm - 5.30pm, displays continue in the Ben End with Sunday teas in the main hall hosted by the Cunningsburgh History Group. In addition the Shetland Museum will be showing an exhibition of information and artefacts of prominent Goudie figures in the upper foyer from 19th May to 18th June. Keep and eye on information regarding this and other exhibitions by clicking here
What can you do? If you have any of these two names in your family tree and would like to contribute information, stories, people profile or indeed help with an event please contact the Society as soon as possible, we would love to hear from you.
In addition, and because these events are now becoming very popular, larger and more time consuming for our volunteer researchers a decision has been taken to postpone the planned Robertson event until 2018.
Any offers of assistance or material for these projects would be gratefully appreciated and can be forwarded to: firstname.lastname@example.org
