The Hairst Coontin Kin is now available online. Some members still receive paper copies, and these were posted last week. Many will already have them, and hopefully all will have been delivered by the end of this week.

Our sincere apologises that the Hairst Coontin Kin is late this year. Our previous printers, the Shetland Times, closed. We have sourced a new firm to print the journal but the process is taking longer than expected. I will update once we have more information.

The Society premises at Garthspool will be closed on Tuesday, 19th August. We will be open normally the rest of the week (2-4 weekdays). We are sorry for any inconvenience.

More Monumental Inscriptions have been added to our collection in the Members' Area. These cover all of Delting parish.

We are pleased to announce that the Shetland Family History Society (SFHS) AGM will be held in the board room at the Shetland Amenity Trust, Garthspool, Lerwick on Thursday 22nd May at 4.30pm. The SFHS entrance is at the rear side door of the premises- please use bell and someone will let you in.

Our premises at Garthspool are reopening on Monday 27th January. We will be open 2-4 every week day afternoon thereafter, including the day after Up Helly Aa!

The Yule 2024 Coontin Kin is now available in the Members' Area.

We have added the transcriptions and images for Whiteness and Weisdale to the Monumental Inscriptions collection in the Members' Area. There was, briefly, a technical issue which meant that the transcriptions only were added initially. The images are now there as well.

The images for the kirkyards in Quarff and Gulberwick have been added to the website. Other areas will be added through the year. Watch for announcements!
