- Coontin Kin
The society publishes a regular journal, Coontin Kin. The magazine is published four times a year: the Voar edition in March, Simmer in June, Hairst in September and Yule in December.
Information on the latest issue published is here
Membership of the society entitles you to receive the magazine free of charge. The journal contains articles and sometimes research results which may be of help to other members. It is well received and the articles submitted, primarily by members, is of great interest and can be of real value to other researchers.
In addition to updating members on news regarding the Society and its members, Coontin Kin aims to provide a forum for discussion of members' interests, research queries and personal experiences. We encourage articles which reflect the wide diversity of Shetland and Shetlanders and hopefully extend our knowledge and understanding of the lives of our ancestors.
There is also a specific interest currently in articles about your WW1 ancestors, whether they be army, navy, air force or civilian, and about those who survived and those who perished.
As such we are always keen to receive articles that you think may interest fellow members. These can be emailed to email@example.com [any photos as jpegs please] or by post to 84 King Harald Street, Lerwick, Shetland, ZE1 0ER.
Please check the website for regular information on the journal, upcoming articles, requests and other notices.
