Shetland Family History Becomes FamilySearch Affiliate Library

The Shetland Family History Society is delighted to announce that it has become a FamilySearch Affiliate Library. This means that visitors to our premises at Garthspool have access to even more genealogical resources to help make more family history discoveries.

Interest in Shetland family history continues to grow in popularity, and now you may not need to look any further than your local family history library in Lerwick to make your next exciting family history discovery. Every week we entertain visitors from around the world, keen to reconnect with their Shetland roots. We also have as many local folk visit, all benefiting from our team of helpful volunteers.

FamilySearch, the popular web service, has over 13 billion searchable names and 6 billion viewable images of historical genealogical records. FamilySearch adds hundreds of millions of free genealogical records and images online yearly from all over the world and manages the famous FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City. It has amassed billions of birth, marriage, death, census, land and court records from more than 200 countries and territories to help you discover and make family connections.
