Shetland Societies
Shetland migrants frequently stay in touch with their fellow migrants by forming Shetland Societies, sometimes combining with neighbours as Orkney and Shetland Societies. The first of these formed in 1815 and there are now many in existence worldwide, although many have closed over the years.
